Agently for Mac

Install Agently for Mac

Agently for Mac is in early access. If you don't have it yet, request access. AppSumo customers don't need it: your licensed workspace opens on the web at beta.agently.dev, and the same account works in the Mac app too.

The Mac app comes as a disk image (DMG) or an installer package (PKG). Both put Agently in your Applications folder.

Before you start

Check that your Mac has Apple Silicon and runs macOS 13 or later. Open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac to see both.

Install with the DMG

  1. Open the downloaded file. A window titled Install Agently appears.
  2. Drag the Agently icon onto the Applications folder in that window.
  3. Open Applications in Finder and double-click Agently.
  4. Sign in with your email code or with Google.

Install with the PKG

  1. Open the downloaded file. The macOS installer walks you through a few pages.
  2. Choose Install. macOS may ask for your Mac password.
  3. When it finishes, open Agently from Applications.
  4. Sign in with your email code or with Google.

After you sign in

  1. Pick your workspace.
  2. Open Agently → Settings… (⌘,) and choose what you want: open Agently at login and native notifications.

Then grant the permissions for the features you plan to use.

Invitations

An invitation email opens in your browser. Choose Sign in to accept and sign in with the email the invitation was sent to; you join straight away. On a Mac, choose Open Agently afterwards to continue in the app.

Troubleshooting

  • The DMG window did not appear. Open Finder, look under Locations, and click Install Agently. Or use the PKG.
  • Opening the disk image did not install anything. That is expected. Drag Agently into Applications, then open it from there.
  • macOS says the app can't be opened. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway next to the Agently message. Only install Agently from the link Agently gave you.
  • Google sign-in opened your browser and stayed there. Start a fresh sign-in from the app. When your browser asks to open Agently, allow it.
  • Your Mac has an Intel chip or macOS 12 or older. The Mac app does not run there. If your workspace has an AppSumo license, use Agently on the web.
