Use Agently

Use Jarvis

Jarvis is your assistant. Type to it in a chat, talk to it, or message it in Slack. Your Jarvis chat, voice and Slack direct messages share one conversation, so Jarvis knows what you asked earlier.

Type to Jarvis

Choose New task, or press ⌘N, and describe what you need in plain language. Type / to run a skill, attach files, and pick a model. Each chat keeps its own model: Smart (the default) picks Opus, Sonnet or Haiku for each request.

Talk to Jarvis

Talking to Jarvis needs Agently Pro or AppSumo Tier 3 or 4. The conversation itself uses no credits; the work you ask for does (see Credits and your own API key).

On the web:

  1. Click Jarvis in the top bar and choose Talk to Jarvis, or open it from ⌘K. You can pick a voice there.
  2. A compact panel under the top bar shows Connecting…, then Listening. Speak naturally. You can interrupt Jarvis and ask follow-ups.
  3. Choose Stop voice session, or press Esc, to stop.

Voice in a browser needs a current Chrome, Edge or Safari, and your browser's permission to use the microphone.

In the Mac app:

  1. Press ⌘⇧Space from any app, say "Hey, Jarvis", or choose Talk to Jarvis from the Agently menu or the menu bar.
  2. Jarvis appears in the notch at the top of your screen with live captions. Click End to stop. ⌥Space opens the notch.
  3. "Hey, Jarvis" is on unless you turn it off, from the Agently menu. Your Mac listens for the phrase on its own; nothing you say is sent anywhere until it hears it. It works in English (US).

A voice session ends after four minutes with nothing said, or after ten minutes in total. Start a new one any time.

Hand over real work

Ask for something that takes a while, such as research, a draft or an action in a connected tool. Jarvis starts it in the background and keeps talking with you, and tells you the result when it is ready.

  • Two at a time. Jarvis works on two of your spoken or Slack requests at once. Ask for a third and it tells you to wait for one to finish.
  • See your requests. Each request shows as a row in Work. Click it to see what Jarvis said and the full answer. Choose Open conversation to see sources, or Stop to end a request that is still running.

What Jarvis asks before doing

When you ask for something in your own words, in your own chat, by voice or in a Slack direct message, Jarvis does it. It asks first when an action you didn't ask for would reach outside Agently, for example:

  • Sending anything to other people, such as an email, a Slack message or a calendar invite with guests.
  • Deleting or archiving anything.
  • Merging code.
  • Using a tool from a custom connector that isn't marked read-only.

Reading, searching and drafting run straight away.

  • The card. Each card shows exactly what will happen. Choose Allow once, Always allow for that kind of action, or Deny. Always allow isn't offered for deletes, merges, or anything that came from content Jarvis read, such as an email or a web page.
  • Emails in a chat show as a review card you can edit, with Send.
  • Where cards show. In the chat you have open. For voice and Slack requests and cards in Work, you also get a notification. In the Mac app, cards for actions on your Mac show in the notch.
  • Routines follow their own setting: Ask before sending holds every outside change for you; unattended routines act alone. Routines never delete anything. See Routines.
  • Memory. Once Jarvis has read something someone else wrote, such as an email, a page or a web page, it asks before saving or changing a memory. Files you attach yourself don't count.
  • Shared threads. Teammates can read threads on shared pages and on cards in Work. There, Jarvis can't read your private mail, calendar or direct messages. Ask in your own chat instead.

Troubleshooting

  • "Talking to Jarvis is included in AppSumo Tier 3 and 4." Voice isn't part of your tier. Type to Jarvis, or upgrade your tier on AppSumo.
  • Stuck on Connecting…. Check your connection and try again. If you started many sessions in a short time (more than ten in ten minutes), wait a few minutes.
  • Jarvis can't hear you. Allow the microphone for Agently in your browser's site settings, or on a Mac see Grant permissions.
  • ⌘⇧Space does nothing. Another app may use that shortcut. Use Talk to Jarvis in the Agently menu or the menu bar.
  • Jarvis says it is already working on two requests. Wait for one to finish, or open it in Work and choose Stop.
  • Jarvis won't use your mail in a shared thread. That is on purpose. Ask in your own Jarvis chat.
